Luquos Energy is an innovative green tech startup incubated by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP). It was formally founded in Hong Kong in 2020 by Prof. Yi-Chun Lu and Dr. Zengyue Wang, assembling a professional team of scientists and engineers dedicated to developing next-generation flow battery technologies for stationary and mobile energy storage scenarios.

Inherent Safety
Its sulfur-based flow battery adopts nonflammable, nontoxic aqueous electrolytes and earth-abundant active materials, eliminating fire risks compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries.
Ultra-long Cycle Life
The self-developed Charge Reinforced Ion-selective (CRIS) membrane completely blocks active material cross-contamination. The battery shows zero performance decay after 1200 charge-discharge cycles, with a projected service life of over 15 years.
High Scalability
The flow battery architecture supports easy capacity expansion for large-scale energy storage systems, far more flexible than lithium-ion batteries in grid-level deployment.
Eco-friendly & Low Cost
It uses widely available earth elements as raw materials, with no environmental pollution risks at disposal. Both the installed cost and levelized cost of electricity are less than 50% of that of lithium-ion batteries.
Unlimited Discharge Duration
No strict constraints on discharge time, making it perfectly suited for long-duration energy storage applications.
